James Peebles, considered the father of cosmology, and Didier Queloz, the first astronomer to find an extrasolar planet orbiting a star, were part of the "Golden Webinars in Astrophysics", an initiative of the UC Institute of Astrophysics that brought together internationally renowned astronomers for a week.
The week of June 8th to 12th, 2020, the Institute of Astrophysics of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, with the support of the CATA Center for Astrophysics and Related Technologies and the Vice-Rectory for Research of PUC, will host a virtual talk series entitled the "Golden Week of Webinars in Astrophysics" to present the latest important research in the area of astrophysics and cosmology presented directly by the scientists who have carried it out.
Como parte de las celebraciones, el Instituto de Astrofísica de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile contará la historia del primer observatorio del país, construido en el Cerro san Cristóbal a comienzos del siglo XX. Charlas online, webinars y una obra de teatro, forman parte de las sorpresas "astronómicas" preparadas para este año.
Este 2020, celebraremos el Día del Patrimonio de forma completamente online. Tendremos cuatro actividades, distribuidas entre el 29 y el 31 de mayo.
